It’s no wonder 9 out of 10 women in the US currently keep track of their family’s care in Apple Notes. And even less that a healthcare app like Trellis has been created to sort things out.

Quite the compelling offer, and yet the company was selling itself short, perceived as just another sticking plaster in a country crying out for a pregnancy and post-partum revelation. The benefits it was conceived on deserved a brand that could back them up.

Compiling decades of medical history in minutes, Trellis seamlessly turns years of appointments, vaccinations, genetics and everything else into the record of your lifetime. Creating a bank of Generational Health, it builds a living blueprint which not only helps organise your life, but ensures you can pass it on to your entire family.


As for the identity, let’s start with the foundations. At the base is a flexible grid. A structure to build life upon, it toggles and expands to house brand assets. Chief of which is a library of natural, sunlit photography – images which celebrate lives through pregnancy and beyond with a diverse range of people, ages and families at every stage of Generational Health.


Adding dimension to this system, our illustrative fingerprint texture reflects the personal connection people create with Trellis. Zooming out, it adds a touch of humanity to technical charts and data visualisation while, zooming in, it inspired our key brand icon – and the subtle T hidden in its ridges.


More humanity is added through the Voice of the Midwife. A verbal identity inspired by the bold, courageous and often imaginative bedside manner of the first people we meet in this world, it delivers what mothers need to know with zero varnish. And nowhere is that better demonstrated than through a seamless digital experience, which manages to distill a lifetime of medical information into one clear, manageable overview.
